Copy Editors Needed

The article above was in today’s Washington Post. It could have used a good copy editor. The article, “Motive Sought in Bethesda Slaying” is the sad, scary and fascinating story about the Lululemon murder in Bethesda. The story has two blatant copy editing errors and it repeats information.

One:

and two:

The story is well reported but it’s distracting when facts are repeated and typos abound. I know the Post got rid of a hefty chunk of its copy editors. I know others have complained about the lack of oversight in recent years.

Another thing that bothered me was the repeated information that Norwood, the suspected murderer was a soccer player. The article makes mention to it on the front pageL

It actually mentions that she was a soccer player three times. Does being a soccer player have something to do with being a murderer? Hmmm….

None of the typos were found on the online version of the story but the three soccer player mentions were.
